1988 Buick Lesabre With a few Problems

I have a friend that has a 1988 Buick Lesabre it has one problem and a minor annoyance. Up until this morning the speedometer on her car was working fine it no longer works. The turn signals, gas guage and other stuff works just fine. The fuse for it was checked it appeared to be fine. Also there is a squeaking sound coming from the from left side of the car it goes away whenever the brakes are applied but as soon as they are released it comes back.

I appreciate any suggestions or help

Thx in advance.

Re: 1988 Buick Lesabre With a few Problems

It is controlled Electronically by the computer. There may be a bad connection in the dash. I had a Seat belt light on constantly and traced it down to a short in the plug where the instrument panel plugs into the dash. Short of taking out the whole dash, you might try giving it a whack or two.
Most brake pads have a little bracket that squeaks to indicate they need changed. When you press on the brakes, it doesnt squeak. You might need new brake pads.
