NASCAR is, without a doubt, the most boring motorsport in the world.

with that said, i used to be somewhat of a fan back in '99. i went to the Pepsi 400 with my dad at Daytona Speedway in Florida, mostly just as a father-son bonding thing, because he was REAL into NASCAR, but i wasn't so much. so anyways, the night before the race, we were eating at Hooter's just down the road from the speedway, and some guy sat next to us at the bar. we thought nothing of it.

after a while, all these people started coming up to this guy for autographs and were talking to him. my dad was like "brian, who's sitting beside me? i don't want to look, but people keep asking him for autographs and it's starting to get annoying."

i looked over, and whispered to my dad "uhh...dad? you're sitting beside Dale Earnhardt Jr."

my dad whipped around, smiled, and asked for an autograph.

Wow let's watch cars drive around in a circle for hours just so the same three rednecks can win every time!

Ditto Formula one.....

What bugs me is that points are awarded for driving ability, and shouldn't be taken off because some dickhead thinks good ole boys shouldn't say shit.

Nascar is booooooring. The skill involved is far less than that of Formula 1 or the like.....

Right, because driving an inch off of someone's bumper at 190mph for 2 hours is so easy.

Like 7 seconds of monotonous blaring straight line "action" just keeps me on the edge of my seat...briefly...

The redneck stepchild that predates most of the "real" racing you speak of. By the way, if NASCAR isn't, what is "real" racing?

F1 racing. Every other kind of racing that involves more than 2 giant curves for each time around the track. And I'm not saying that nascar driving doesn't take skill. It does. But other kinds of racing take more skill.

dragging takes skill too. Granted, barely any... but you know what I meant. BTW, road racing was around before nascar was.

Im not arguing the history of the sport, rather the statement that its boring and "the redneck stepchild of real racing". And if your not impressed by two giant curves, might as well turn off such classics as track, horse racing, and dog racing, not to mention some F1 racing.

And what about the Watkins Glenn, Pocono and Infineon races?

hey noob, I never said I could do it, and I did say it takes skill. I just said F1 racing takes FAR MORE skill. Which is completely true.

I autocross, btw, and will be doing some track days when I get my new BMW.

And, yes, kustm, if it goes in a big circle then I generally don't like it. Don't like horseraces, don't like dograces. don't like chariot races, don't like big oval F1 races.

I'd say rally racing takes the most skill (ok, maybe second place, but thats besides the point) than any of the other forms of racing listed above.

When you're rally racing, nothing will EVER be predictable. Running the course a second time will not even be remotely similar to the first. Why? Due to ever so changing conditions. Dirt (Snow, Gravel etc..) is constantly being moved around. The surface you're driving on is never the same. Toss in rain, snow, fog, and mud on your windshield, and you're in for one hell of a ride. Why do you think they need navigators? Because its damn near impossible to run the course by yourself. Sure, you can get a "feel" for a rally course after you run it a couple times. But "feel" alone sure isn't gonna give you the win. Rally racing is one of the few racing forms where you jump over dirt mounds. Land a couple degrees off and you're set for a continuous drift into a tree.

Ok, I'm ready for flames But i'm still standing my ground
