newbie here, problems with my blazer

hello, well my problem is this: my blazer idles erratically, seems worse at times, then from a stop, i hit the gas, and i get a flat spot, and then she goes, is very frustrating, just lately, I go to slow dow, and she stalls, starts right up, i replaced the fuel pump about 1 year ago, installed new plugs, and fuel filter, air filter recently, but still, same problem, i have a 2.8 v-8, throttle boddy injection, the injectors seem okay, hard to tell though, another question is it possible to go to a mechanical carb, and regular gm elctronic ignition, eliminating the computer alltogether, thanks.....

What year is your Blazer? At what temp does the problem happen or get worse? Are you getting a service engine soon light? Idle quality is controlled by the idle air control valve in the throttle body. If it is bad or dirty you may have slower response from the valve. Try removing it and cleaning it and the passage for the pintle in the throttle body. Of course there are other things that can cause your problem, but there's a starting place. Your post sounds like you had tuned it up somewhat recently so we can skip that. Maybe check your spark when you let go of the throttle. Also your tps is important with metering fuel, if it's going bad you may have a problem there as well.

BTW the 2.8 is a v-6

Re: newbie here, problems with my blazer

Check your plugs and see if they are carboned up.

Also, have you ever had the vehicle timed? Sounds like the timing is retarded.

Remember to disconnect the brown and beige timing wire going under the carpet under the glove compartment when you time the vehicle.
