ODB2 code 440

did you do a web search for OBD2 (on-board diagnostic computer, 2nd generation all cars 1998 and on)

I think 440 is a problem with EVAP leakage, meaning a leak in the gas tank vapour recirculation problem. Usually it is cause either by a gas cap not tighten sufficiently or a leak in the EVAP hoses.

Check your gas cap first.

Thank you for your suggestion. We are in the process of checking the hoses out.

Re: 98 Toyota corolla

gas cap seal is a common problem with our Corolla,
This year and last I think, We started putting warnings on the gas cap.
It will "throw a code" ,I'll check tomorrow at work if it's 440.

Outthere Too

Re: 98 Toyota corolla

If you filled up on fuel with the vehicle running, it will trigger the code also.
