93 honda civic ex 1.6

This last week I've been having problems with my car just dying when I come to a stop and then not wanting to start back up. I have to wait for 30 to 40 seconds before it will start back up, and it doesn't happen all the time. I've done a complete tune up, replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, and it still does it. But over all the car runs great no lack of power but just dies for no reason. Could it be the coil going out or the 02 sensor?

When you wait 30-40 seconds if you try to crank it before then what does it do, does it turn over?

Re: 93 honda civic ex 1.6

sounds like an alternator or battery problem.

when I run a test on the battery and the alternator it's charging good and the battery holds a charge... It just happen to me on the way home, the car started to stumble and wanted to die. I pumped the gas a few times slowly and the car didn't die it took back off. This happened as I shifted from 3rd to 4th.

93 honda civic

Thats what I thought so I got some air intake and throttle body cleaner and cleaned it really good. I noticed with the air tube off it was really black. I also put a fuel injection cleaner in the gas.. I think thats what helped me to keep it running when it started to stumble but not sure.

Pull out all four of your injectors and have a friend crank the engine, and see if all of them are spraying fuel. If all four look really weak, replace your fuel filter. A new one of those costs like $15-$20 at any autoshop, and takes like 10 minutes to replace on your own. If you haven't replaced that since '93, I'd do it anyways!

Re: 93 honda civic ex 1.6

he replaced his fuel pump and filter already as part of his tune up that he did. Any way the fuel rail could get clogged?

I'm running some cleaner through it hoping that if there is any build up that it will clear it out, anyone have a opinion on which cleaner is the best to use?

93 honda civic 1.6

Well the car died on me again and didn't want to start finally got it home and next day it wouldn't start at all. I tried everything. But I believe I found out my problem. It was the ignition module, I changed it and the car started right up, a friend of mine told me about it and so far so good. The car has all it's power back too. Thanks everyone for your help.
