I work for a doctor that has a 1991 RX-7 Convertible with a spend motor we have found a web-site that offer rebuilt motors for around $2000.00 for a non turbo and around $2500.00 for a turbo. My question is can these motors be swapped he wants a turbo.

Re: RX-7 from non turbo to turbo
Sure.... but you will need a complete harness, hoses, turbo-piping, ECU and lots of patience...

Re: RX-7 from non turbo to turbo
^^^
this guy... *sigh*... I'll jsut stop there... anyways, its not very hard at all really, it fits in exactly the same way, you'll need the turbo hood though, the harness, and either the ECU or just get a haltech(better anyways) and you can get it ported while its out and get more power... and if you don't wanna do the labor you can let a shop do it for a decent price you'll need a TII tranny and flywheel and usually its better to use the TII rear end as well

Re: RX-7 from non turbo to turbo
you could do some base mods, and maybe play with nos, since you seem to want power at low cost

Re: RX-7 from non turbo to turbo
There are a few differences between a 13B FC and a 13B T2 FC. Turboing a N/A FC can be done, but the power gains are going to be crap. The rotaries love nitrous, you can do some mods to a 13B N/A and get it to over 200rwhp easy, without nitrous, and with, that quite a lot of hp for the weight.

Re: RX-7 from non turbo to turbo
you'll get barely the same power for the same boost on a 6 port and on a 4 port engine,
and rotary dont like nitrous that much, you'll have to keep the engine cool, and get a wet kit. |
