Re: Heat coming from the vents
even fresh air is still affected by the engine bay temp so it will be warmer then the outside temp. also even when the fan is off i get some air coming through the vents and is temp is affected by the position of the dial...(e.g. if the dial is turned to heat with the fan off the air is still hotter than if the dial is turned to cool with the fan off)

So there is no such thing as actual freh air unless the windows are down....well at least I do not have a heating problem because winter is almost here

Re: Heat coming from the vents
fresh air just means that the system is not recycling the air from inside the cabin, so yes it is actually "fresh" air but in getting it from the outside into the cabin it is affected by the temp of the motor and such

Re: Heat coming from the vents
Check one thing - the hot water valve (in the plumbing under the hood) is cable-operated from the heater control. Make sure that when the control is all the way to cold that the valve is fully shut off.

Do you know about where it is under the hood? |

Re: Heat coming from the vents
Well - it's a valve and ot controls the flow of coolant to the heater core, so "hot water valve!" (But there's probably some fancy automotive term for it)
I'm not certain about the '90 but it's probably similar to the '93 ---- right (passenger) side, near the firewall, fairly low down, close to the motor mount. Have someone move the temperature control while you look under the hood - you'll be able to see the valve's lever moving. |

Re: Heat coming from the vents
Are you talking about moving the temp dial from cold to hot or the two buttons that show fresh air or recycled air??

Re: Heat coming from the vents
Oh! If it is "Hot Water Valve" is it easy to repair??? Does the chilton's book show how to remove it?
