need civic info

HI everyone, first off i'm sorry if these questions have been asked but i've done searching and i couldn't find the answer so here i am. I'm considering buying a civic and i want something fast. from what i read the EG6 and the SiR are the best. now for the questions:
1)is an EG6 any civic hatchback or is it like a civic type r?
2)how do i differentiate between the EG6 with the 160hp or the 125hp(i think)?
3)whats faster and better in your opinions, the EG6 or an SiR?

thanks a lot, i appreciate the help. the models i'm looking for will be between 1992 and 2000 so please be specific with info if you can, thanks a lot.

Re: need civic info

EG6 is the chassis code for the JDM 5th gen civics. So in all fairness, the SiR is the EG6. I have no idea what models they sell where you live, but next to the Type-R is the SiR.

To differentiate between the 160 and 125hp models basically is SOHC vs DOHC motor. The 125 hp model is a SOHC and the 160 is a DOHC.

Re: need civic info

thanks mate. OKay, where i live it takes forever but i can find a coupe SiR. As for the civic hatch, well they're dirt cheap and they're also pretty rare. So am i correct to understand that any civic hatchback is basically an EG6 if its between like 1992-1996 or so?? thanks for the help man.

Re: need civic info

awesome. i can get an EG6 here for as much as the scrap value of my car (i wrecked my poor camaro ), okay, so they all come with B16 engines, and the DOHC is better. what about reliability. can they take a beating coz i plan to drive it hard? thanks again, you've been a great help.

well...I don't know if all the hatchbacks come with B16 engines where you're from, but if you can get your hands on a SiR hatchback, do not let the chance slip through your fingers. And don't worry about taking it to the redline, Honda motors love to rev.

well as much as i love my camaro, I wrecked it last week in a pretty bad accident. I've always loved the civics and my friend has a B18C5 crx so after hearing his engine and being in the car with him, i really got interested even more in honda's and especially the sweet sound of V-tec. Besides, i've got a 2000model civic right now, but its just a GLi model, which is a basic 4 door

plus the fuel in my v8 used to kill my wallet, but i figure with the civic its cheap to run and cheap to fix if anything goes wrong. plus performance parts are easy to find and cheap here in my country.

I've got a basic civic LX with 4 doors also but when I got my integra GSR with the B18C1 engine (duh), I was in love with it the first second I floored it.
