'93 Accord H22A swap shakin like crazy in REVERSE

I recently did a JDM H22A w/ auto tranny swap into a '93 Accord and whenever I switch into REVERSE, the whole car shakes like crazy. Not only that, the steering wheel feels like a machine gun on the loose. It only happens in REVERSE and no other gear. Anyone who have a done a similar swap have a similar problem? or anyone know what may be the problem? Thanks in advance.

I'd say it may well be the motor mount(s). Did you put new ones in when you did the motor swap?

The shop that did the swap used the old engine mounts. He checked it and said it was 'Okay'. I guess he didn't want to do the extra labor so he didn't check it thoroughly or something. But after researching several threads, it might well be the front and rear mounts. Where's the cheapest place to get the OEM mounts? Thanks.

It sounds like mounts to me also...if you had a shop do the work then i would take them the keys and tell them to fix it...free...if they didn't do it right the first time it's not your problem it's theirs

But, in case you end up buying mounts yourself, try www.foreigncarpartsonline.com

Should I buy the Prelude's front and rear mounts or buy the Accord's front and rear mounts? From the site provided... www.foreigncarpartsonline.com, there's a huge price difference between them. The accord's rear mount is $129 - $256 while the prelude is only $61.

Will either fit the H22A engine on the '93 Accord? This is getting pretty expensive. Thanks guys!

Can't help. I'm guessing Accord, because the difference between the Accord and Prelude is more in the body than the engine (block). The rear mount IS expensive (but a LOT more from Honda!) The good news is that you can expect to get 100,000 miles + out of it.

eBay carries them sometimes too, by the way (indeed, "foreigncarpartsonline" is a seller, as one of my feloow-posters can tell you)

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/te...rid/index.html

quote from site
"An OBD I H22 can be swapped into a '90-to-'93 chassis using all the stock engine mounts."

just so you know the OBD I H22 motors came from the 94-95 preludes
