taylor and crawley in London. They are as close to an "Official" dealer as you'll get. Pretty much all McLarens that have been resold have been through there at some stage or other.

As mini magic says Taylor and Crawley often broker the cars through their network. Some of the GTR's go from private collector to private collector unannounced, and some appear at specialist vehicle auctions too.

there hasn't been one at auction for a few years. I doubt there will be one at an auction for a while. They command more value than they did then.

There were at least two at auction in the past year through Christies.

The Kandy Orange Metallic car (Number #73) was sold on December 2nd, 2003. Christies sold #073 for £731,250 GBP or $1,259,000 USD.

Whilst the absolutely stunning Metallic Blue car (Number 11) sold in June 2003 for the sum of £593,750, again through Christies.

Mini Magic, you even mentioned you were going to that auction ...

mini magic was referring specifically to GTRs I believe - and he would be correct, as there hasn't been a GTR at a public auction in quite some time.

Ok. So 2 McLarens, both modified, with owners related to each other came on to the market within 6 months of each other. A McLaren F1 hadn't been sold for 3 years at auction before that and then 2 years before that. They come in as doubles (as far as we can tell). I'd say it is a fluke. Why would you risk selling one at auction when the prices being asked at private dealers are so much higher and people are willing to pay it for a good car.

Also,

1998
McLaren F1
$1,257,750
12/2/2003
Sold

1994
McLaren F1
$961,875
6/16/2003
Sold

1997
McLaren-BMW F1 GTR
$417,515
6/22/2000
Sold

1996
McLaren F1 GTR
$540,363
5/25/2000
Not Sold

1994
McLaren F1
$618,531
9/6/1998
Sold

1994
McLaren F1
$680,000
5/17/1998
Not Sold

All the McLarens that have been at auction. No matter what, i'd say your chances of getting one at auction are fairly slim. Wouldn't you?

And yes, i did see the blue one. Its quite comfy.
