I have a 1998 S-10 with 67,000 miles on it.I have been having this problem for about 2 months now. When I go to start it the first thing in the morning or after it has sat at work all day I get the check engine light and it will not crank.I keep turning the key off and on or I can leave it on and in a minute it will crank fine and will crank perfect the rest of day only does this when it's sat over night or for long period during the day and only does it approx twice a week. After the initial crank up you can crank it 100 times a day and it never happens after engine has warmed up and the light doesn't ever come back on until the next time it decides to do this.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

Re: Check engine light stops cranking only when cold
ignition module in the steering column is shorting out.
Turn the key to the on position and see if the check engine light will go out after a couple seconds. If not, you have a code set and you should go to Autozone and have the codes read. |
