Ignition switch broken wiring help?? Thoughts?

I am about to purchase a 89 civic SI, but the ignition switch is broken. I guess what happened is the guy couldn't get the steering wheel to unlock so he Cranked the steering wheel hard while trying to turn the key to get it to unlock. needless to say he messed up the ignition swith.

so instead of getting a new ignition switch and haveing two differant keys. I want to have a swith on the Accesory wire.

I don't remember what wires are which anymore because it has been so long since I installed the alarm in my other one...

Any help or ideas??

thats for the electrical part in general, you can look there. If you scroll down the page, theres a few sections on the whole starting system.

Why not just fix the switch? Honda can (maybe a locksmith as well) replicate the tumblers for your car so you have only one key for the car. Does you key have a number on it?

Go to a honda dealership with your title and they can get you the key code, and a new lock that will match the the old key.

When you switch out the ignition wires you DO NOT switch out the lock cylinder also. They are 2 different pieces. The back of the lock cylinder has a sort of "male" thing sticking out and the front of the ignition switch has a female thing and that is what links them together. You can literally smash the ignition switch off the back of the lock cylinder and start the car with a screwdriver.

I might possibly have a fairly new ignition switch (has the wires on it to) somewhere in my house. I don't think I sold it. If you are interested let me know.

I am actually getting this as a winter car for right now. so I am not wanting to spend a lot of money on it right away. I have to other 91 civic that I am currently working on. So as you could guess money is tight

I am just looking for a temporary fix until I get more money and start rebuilding the new one in the spring...

So if I were to get a high voltage switch and would I just need to tap into the 4 that are used in the II position? I am not sure if they are all positive or if some are negative?

Any help?
