Re: zx2 speed

My guess would be that is where the ECM's limiter is set. My Impala SS cuts out at 145.

My friend's cop-spec 9C1 Caprice hits the limiter at 154!! Glad to know that. I won't be trying to outrun one of those! (not that I would) I noticed once when looking at a police car that the light bar said it is only speed rated to 120 mph. I wonder what happens above that? Does it pull outta the roof? Come apart? Turn into a pumpkin? Enquiring minds wanna know!

My father-in-law just bought a cop-spec 2000 Crown Vic from the Tampa PD, I'm dying to get it out in the open and bury it, for research purposes, you know. A cop friend told me the Vics are quicker to accelerate out of a turn, throttle roll-on accelleration, but that the Caprice tops out higher and is more stable at high-speed. He said if he had a choice of what to use as a battering ram, he'd rather have the Caprice.

Re: zx2 speed

His is LT1, with a performance chip that I was able to secure from a friend who's dept used them in their Caprices. They were removed before going to auction, because they are not emissions compliant. His diff's ratio is lower than my SS too, I can run away from him in the bottom end.
