Broken Hood Cable

I have a 91 Subaru Legacy with front wheel drive and the hood cable inside the car has broken off. I took the off the front grill and couldnt figure out how to open it. I looked where the cable was inside the car and all there is, is what the cable was inside of. I still have the cable but i think the cable broke at the latch because its about a 4-5 foot long cable.


If anyone could help me it would be such a help. I dont have much money and i got this car from my uncle. I dont want to have to bring it to the mechanic and pay him to open it but i will if i have to.
