:help:
Can any experts of the Land Rover brand help me with this question? My question is: Which company designed/manufactures/supplies the automatic transmissions for use in the latest Range Rover? In local reviews of the new-model Range Rover, which uses BMW-sourced engines, one newspaper article (incorrectly) stated it employed a "BMW automatic transmission". Another claimed that it was a GM unit. I've read that BMW use Mercedes Benz-manufactured 5 speed automatics behind their V8-engined passenger range, as BMW doesn't yet make a strong enough auto for these applications. I'm not sure where the BMW X5 auto comes from. So as it stands, Ford owns Land Rover - which uses BMW engines, with transmissions sourced from possibly either Daimler-Chrysler or GM! An incredible situation for a car company (at least it used to be) but I guess that's the way things are these days. Does anyone know the origin of the new Range Rover automatic transmission? Thanks |

Try asking you dealership. Whatever you do, get a warranty. I have a 2005 a picked up an extended warranty already. These things are way too expensive to repair. Doesn't matter what it is. Good luck with your question. I know european transmissions are Getrag aren't they? |

Re: new Range Rover query
By the way if you get a warranty don't buy from the dealer! Go aftermarket online.
