2000 taurus transmission failure at 120,000?
I was talking with a guy the other day. He told me the 99-01 taurus are prone to having transmission failures at 120,000 mile area. I was a little put off by it. I asked if it was due to poor maintenance. He said he didn't know the dealer told him the tranny usually has to be completely replaced. I am starting to worry now that i am around 93, 000. Anyone heard of this?

Re: 2000 taurus transmission failure at 120,000?
most tauri with the AX4S need a new transmission before that, but virtually all of them need one by 120k, which if you look at all FWD automatic sedans sold here, isn't that bad.

Was the 30K mile recommended service always done? Have some confidence if it was. Taurus owners are notorious for neglecting their cars - then complain that they are problem vehicles and no good.

tranny flushes are good if you do them regularly and NEVER do power flushes
