Have a '00 Ford F350 with a 7.3L PSD, with 118k on it. A couple of weeks ago, wouldn't start. Will crank... but won't turn all the way over. A friend replaced the fuel filter, then we jumped it off, started right up. No problems until this AM, same thing. After wait to start light off, turn key, get cranking, but won't start ! What should I check next... batteries? glow plugs? starter? Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Truck won't start!
Last time you got lucky. Look at your Tachometer while cranking, does it move? If not, replace the "CMP" sensor (cam position sensor). Simple one bolt/one connector pry it out with a screwdriver and install the new one type of a deal. Under 10 minutes.
If the tach DOES read something over 100 RPM, then you have another problem. That could be anything...... |

Thanks for the response! Had to catch a ride to work this AM, but when I went home at lunch to check on it... still wouldn't start, but DID start after being jumped again. So... would that be the batteries probably??

Re: Truck won't start!
If it turns over well, it's not the batteries. If it turns over, but slowly, then it could be battery(ies), bad connection(s), or the alternator might have died preventing the batteries from recharging while driving.
