Re: 88 Comanche backup light switch

What your looking for is a neutral safety switch, thats located on the side of the tranny. Been awhile since I did mine up so can't remember which side it was on- anyway looks like a half moon shape- has a shaft running through it from the tranny, 1 bolt above to align it- and a wiring harness.Remove bolt, Loosen castle nut and use the nut to pry it off the shaft (Ain't easy), disconnect wiring harness from under the hood, tie string to pull wiring harness back up to the switch harness, pull switch out, take the 2 halves apart- 6 screws if I remember correctly. Be carful not to lose the little springs that push the contacts. take brake cleaner, and toothbrush and scrub all the dry grease out- lightly sand the contacts, add a lil dielectric grease- and reassble. Or you can go buy a new switch but will cost you dearly. Ain't a fun job, but after your finished and then find out how much a new switch costs, it will make it all worth while.
