adding factory cruise control to 94 Escort

I'm trying to add cruise control to my 1994 Ford Escort LX (manual). I got all the parts off of another car in the junkyard (95 LX automatic) and hooked it up but the switches will not work. Are there certain wires that the car did not come prewired with that I need to get? The one that runs down the steering column maybe?? Everything else is already installed.
