98 ranger p0402 problem

Hi everyone. I have a 1998 For Ranger 2.5l inline 4 truck. My stupid check engine light came on so I toko it to Autozone cause their cool and check it for free. He said it was a p0402 code. He explined it to me but i'm dumb and dont really know what he said.

Can anyone please tell me what it means and waht i'm gonna need to fix or w/e. Try to put it down as simple as possible cause i'm dumb and dont know a lot about cars. THANKS!

Re: 98 ranger p0402 problem

P0402 - egr exessive flow - the vehicle is seeing too much egr flow - the DPFE sensor is stuck - not a big deal - every for built has this problem - get a new sensor and problem gone

Have 1 99 Ranger 2.5L that has Both P0401 and P0402 codes. Is this likely to be the DPFE sensor as everyone seems to think when codes show up individually
