Ok. Backed up my best friend last night in a fight. This guy is a boxer and has taken Kempo before. We stand toe to toe in a spar and don't land a blow on each other for 15 minutes. Last I drive him over to fight this mouthy punk and what happens but he loops out that wide, slow, street-punk right hand. He even did the obvious lookaway. He connected that and my buddy went backing up and it was over. No one really got hurt cause the guy has no power but it was still a nightmare to watch. I'm sorry it was fair now cause I wanted to jump in. But we both have the same problem with the guy so I'll probly be next. He'll never catch me with that and I won't back up. Of course I doubt my friend will either. It still drives me NUTS to see the hardest hitter that's ever hit me not connect one blow.

Re: I Can't Believe He Lost
that happened to a friend of mine when we were younger. we went to meet this kid to fight and the first punch the kid landed was sqaure in my friends eye. he said it was a wrap from there. he couldn't stop his eyes from watering and he couldn't really fight anymore. he shoulda handed this kid his ass but shit happens. every dog has their day.

If I got punched in the eye first hit, I would lay on the ground and scream like a girl. Then when he goes to help me up ya smack him in the nuts (backhanded of course) then when he goes down, run away giggling. Works every time...

you guys sparred for 15 minutes and never landed a hit? I have been in martial arts for 9 years and have never seen that before..... is cause you guys were not trying?
and your friend went down after one punch? what the hell kinda boxer is that? I figured a guy who has fought so much and trained in Kempo and Boxing could take a little more hurt. what belt is he? for that matter what belt are you?

Re: I Can't Believe He Lost
I've been in the arts for a little over 14 years, and never once did we go 1 minute without landing a hit. We'd go full contact no pads. I been in a fight where I got nailed in the eye with the first hit (the kid knew Jiu Jitsu, so there was power) and I still put up a great fight. I admit defeat, but others say I won. It was a BS fight, just something friends had to get out, but still, it was full power and neither one of backed down. Sounds like something is either missing or exaggerated, IMHO.

Re: I Can't Believe He Lost
LOL, 15 minutes of any type fighting (counting Tai Chi) you will surely land something unless you start from meters apart. Next time fight yourself, don't get anyone to do it for you

Re: I Can't Believe He Lost
Wow that drew some response. I didn't let him do it for me he was just the guy that got mouthed first and so he went for it. And as for 15 minutes. Probably exaggerated a little bit. But we're both cautious and so it's actually probably only about three minutes of actually doing working. He actually didn't go down at all. He just got off balance. Too overconfident I guess. And as an update. The guy said he won't fight my friend ever again. He didn't like giving his best punch and not hurting him.
