Transmission

I have a slight grinding in third gear - do i need to get a new transmission soon or is it a clutch problem? someone told me that i need a synchronizer, whatever that is.

Re: Transmission

yup, sounds like your synchro is going out. Just be easy on it when you shift into third. You could rebuild the tranny, but that is major $$$. When you really start to have problems, it's better and more cost efficient, in most cases, to just replace it with a used one.

Re: Transmission

This could help that grind out..Have the tranny fluid changed mos tof the times you get little metal shavings in between the snycros and it causes that grind try that if not just by a new tranny and keep that one as a back up rebuild it or whatever..Later..
