project stang

hey fellas, im 17 im my jr. year and i have a 95 "vert" gt {auto} mustang.
my parents ...with good grades...want to buy me a new car for graduation. so i can either get a new badd ass ride to make fast, or get a truck or somthin and turn the mustang into a killin machine cuz it wont be my daily driver. im just wonderin what ur thoughts were. i could do some fun stuf with the 5.0{supercharge it or somthin} or swap a460 into it im not sure. and yes i am well aware that fast cars cost money, break and with a 460 ill need new just about anything but my dad is a car nut and im sure hell help me do all the work.

Re: project stang

yeah i think i will take th 5.0 to the house. it is an auto so ill swap that out for a stick, thrown on some heads/cam,rollers/lifters, rear gears, x-haust, supercharger, crazy ass wheel/tire. and it should be good for low 11's i would think. ill probly thro a cage in there to cuz its a drop top and evenmtually get brakes and suspension in there wehn needed and i can keep that guy till im an old fart and let my kids rip up the streets with it. i mean i rolled over to 55k early this mornin comni form school. lol ill get a truck after i graduate and the stang can be put to rest till the summers and weekends. if the bottem end blows up on it it isnt like i dont have the time to fix it. and the tranny will be a pain i am well aware of the hassle but i have time and i have acces to any tool i need. any suggestions.

Re: project stang

get a new truck...if your rents are paying and budget isn't limited get a 6L diesel F250 to pull the stang around. Then build a turbo beast out of the stang...no reason a turbo stang with a mild setup and an auto cant his low 11's.

Re: project stang

I'd get a 7.3 for pulling. Better low end power, and the tranny wont burn out so fast if its auto.

Re: project stang

You can't go wrong with the 6.0l Power Stroke Turbo Diesel 32-valve V8 pushing 325hp and 570 lb-tq.

Re: project stang

oh most definatly im real luck and gratfull for my folks help, they are pretty well off and i just want to keep the stang im my dads garage and when its all done ill have a fun weekend toy to take my kids out in and have some fun trashin all the street cars. is there anyway to make my mustang handel well while be fast to. like for instance my dad has a 360 modena and my brother has a prelude and they are both insane handelers. will a good coilover kit or just springs/shocks take me anywere near that. its fun to drive straight but in my bros car we took a michagan E-way off ramp at a buck30. its a blast

Re: project stang

yes look around they can handle quite well...I wouldn't put a prelude in a modena's class though LOL but the stang will handle if that's what you want...there are always tradeoffs though, if it's set to handle bad ass most likely it wont launch increadibly hard...
