Rau runs a 7.55@185 in his eclipse

Latest time update 10/02/04.

I remember years back when Brent first started with DSM's.

Back in 1997 he was barely cracking 11's. He's sure come a long way!

Wow.

That is ridiculous. Does he run without a filter on that intake setup!?

He's been in the 7's for some time now actually. That is still a unibody too.

sorry if its a dumb question but what difference performance wise does it being a unibody mean?

Re: Rau runs a 7.55@185 in his eclipse

well im guessing if its not a unibody and its a eclipse then they went to a tube frame chasis or something like it. it would be more ridgid.. less flex off the line.. maybe lighter.. something like that

I hope one day you become rich and try to build a 7-and-a-half second DSM. You'll see that it takes a whole hell of a lot more than money to do it. Just look at the engineering of that motor and overall setup--it is amazing. I bet there is a lot more in that car...I will be very interested to see what it does over the next few years.

Also wondering how much it weighs with the unibody...(although if Rau himself lost a couple pounds he would probably be sub-7.5 )

Re: Rau runs a 7.55@185 in his eclipse

Its ok to like stock looking cars. I like poeple to write with proper spelling and gramar. You cant have everything I guess.... No stock looking car is going to run mid 7s. Below 11.5 you need a roll cage. Above 150 you need a parachute hanging off the back. At 185 mph aerodynamics are a huge part of it. Weight is super important if you dont want to break things all day. Hard to stay stock looking when you want to go that fast...

No filter on the turbo is very common at this level BTW.

Also, buschur is in the 7s, for those that didnt know (I think most poeple do).

If they would update that damn site someday, I'd be #67 175 looks kinda weak

Wow, that's news to me. I was shocked by the absence of the filter...although it makes sense considering the budget that car has to run on, and the need for the fastest air flow possible. Just seems like they'd be sucking so much crap into the engine that they'd have to rebuild it a lot. (which they probably do, running mid 7s )
