97 Passat
I just got a 97 passat VR6 and i'm having trouble finding the transmission dipstick. the only dipstick i see is towards the front of the car and i think thats for motor oil. The reason i'm asking is it seems like it shift real slow or slips when shifting from 4th to 5th. It also seems sluggish when taking off like the parking brake is on or something but when it starts to move that baby moves. I wanted to check the tranny fluid to see if this is an easy fix. Can anyone help?

It's a complicated transaxle to work on. I recently did a post on how to check it/add fluid, you should be able to find it in a search if you want to try it yourself. It takes a special fluid also. If you take it somewhere, make sure they are familiar with VW's.
