Underdrive pulleys for 5.3l

I have a 99 Z71 and i'm looking for ways to improve the efficiency of my engine. I'd like to add a set of underdrive pulleys, but i've yet to locate a set. I wouldn't mind sticking an electric water pump on there as well if i could find one that works. How much stuff from the LS1 engine fits on these truck engines? BTW I'm a new Chevy owner as of last week. I hope to get lots of help from you guys on here in the coming future.

come on guys, you've got to know something about weather or not anyone makes UD pulleys for our engines. That's an easy way to pick up some horsepower and get and extra mile or two out of each gallon of gas.

Re: Underdrive pulleys for 5.3l

Look in summits truck guide. They sell under drive pulleys. Jegs does also. One other place to look would be ebay. Other ways to improve efficency would be a cold air intake, headers, and a hypertech/superchips tuner. All of these add HP, TQ and either leave fuel economy alone or improve it. Hope this helps.

i get all my engine performance stuff at truckperformance.com

pretty sure they have underdrive pulley sets. I was considering buying a set for my 4.8L, but I realized how much work it would be to install a set and it's kinda not worth it just for 5-6hp. imho

As far as LS1 parts on the 5.3's. Pretty sure you can get away with some heads and a cam. Check out summitracing.com they have alot of products for the 5.3's. You better have a pretty penny though cuz they are expensive

Why in the world are the underdrive pulleys for these engines for f*ing high!? I bought a set for my mustang that included the new harmonic balancer and they were only $150 for the best ones. Last night i one an auction for the dual electric fan setup that is in the LS1 cars. with shipping it's going to cost me $106. Not bad i think since the cheapest new fans i could find were in the $300 range.

yeah the fans was probably the easiest upgrade, aside from the programmer...

the variable speed control does all the work. all i had to do was connect a power source (i spliced into my ignition control wires),a ground, and slip the sensor in between the fins of the radiator.

i have the flex-a-lite 292 i think is the part number. it is specifically for the newer chevy v8's.

SC, what times are you running in the 1/4mile with the mods that you have done to your truck? Also did you really notice a performace difference with that TB spacer? I've always heard that those things weren't worth the money.

about the spacer...i couldn't really tell too much a difference in hp or torque but i could notice a faster throttle response...plus it makes a neat whistling sound
