Lighting around the stick shift.

I just bought a 2001 Aurora and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the the letters P R N D 3 2 1 around the stick shift light up? I know that on the dashboard you can tell what gear you are in, but does it light up anyways?

I have a 95 so I know it's different. But on mine, the lights that light up the whole thing (The P, D, N, R, etc) all lit up but the little led that lit up the specific gear I was in did not light up. I took apart my console and found that the wire was tore in half. I just resoldered it back together and it works now. I would take it apart and see if the wires didn't rip.

or of course, the light bulb could just be burnt out. Check the easy things first.
