Window Squeak ?help?

I Have A 99 Gmc Sierra 2500 Ext Cab. Sometimes When I Roll Down The Windows (electric) They Squeak, Sometimes It Is An Ear Piercing Squeak. Im Sure Something Just Needs To Be Greased Or Oiled Or Something. A Friend Of Mine Has A Similar Chevy Of The Same Year And It Does The Same Thing. If Anyone Can Tell Me How To Fix This It Would Be Appreciated.

Also Sometimes The Passenger Door Makes A Squeaky Noise When I Open It. How Do I Grease That To Make It Stop? The Drivers Side Had Been Doing It Too, But When It Was In The Shop The Guys Had The Door Off And Said They Greased It Up Good And Its Been Fine Since, But Im Not Going To Pay Them To Do It Since Im Sure Its Simple And Cheap.

Thanks For Any Help

Unfortunately, you will probably need to replace your window regulator assembly. Once they start to squeak they are on their way out. Next it will begin a grinding, or even crunching sound, and will become slower or not move at all.

As for your door, usually the squeak is from the small roller in the door jamb that holds the door open in a couple positions. Use a good penetrating oil on everything that moves in that jamb, especially that roller. Also there is a flat bar that passes through a rubber boot in to the door there, and you should spray some in there as well. That bar is a "stop" to hold the door from opening into your front fender. It rides on a sprung bar inside the door and could also squeak.

Hope this helps.

Re: Window Squeak ?help?

Try a little silicone spray down through the wipers.
That is where my squeaking is from. About every 4 to 6 months I have to spray both doors.

What area do you spray?

Mine does the same thing, but only when it's just rained or when I wash it.
The squeak stops after it dries out.

Re: Window Squeak ?help?

I spray the wipers on both sides. It does make a mess of the window but it can be cleaned.
