1999 Escort LX Shaking when stopped
I have a 99 LX and with 107.000 miles and whenever I stop my car shakes. But when I put it in park it is not as strong, when it is cold it is really bad. I got a tune up and they place I took it didn't really know what was causing it. I also get really bad gas mileage and I just was woundering if the two had anything to do with eachother.

Had the same problem on my 99 LX. Remove the electrical connection and then remove the Idle air control motor on top of the throttle body. Two 8mm bolds take it off, gently pull it loose so you don't damage the gasket. Turn it over and spray carb. cleaner into the openings until the whole thing looks clean. Allow to dry thoroughly and reinstall in reverse manner. Start the car and you should see a vast improvement. If this does not work you may need to buy a new one. (Just cleaned mine two days ago, doing the same thing, runs and idles great now. No more shaking.)
