1.8T vs. 330ci

last night, i was out w/ a friend of mine who drives a 2003 1.8T (GTI) w/chip, intake, exhaust, and a KO4 turbo upgrade. we were crusin through town going to the mall, when this light purple BMW 330ci starts weaving through traffic until we r side by side. There is a car in front of him so my friend slows, and the BMW cuts us off, speeds to the next light, and waits for us. he revs as we're waiting for the light and we rev back. we get green, and the gti roars out of the intersection, we had some wheelspin, but we were still even w/the BMW, then we got traction and gained about half a car through first, we got another car length in second, and i couldn't really tell how much we pulled in third, but by then the bmw was at least 2.5-3 cars back. we slowed down gave a thumbs up and went our seperate ways.

all in all it was a good race, but if my friends ride can kill a 330ci like that, i need to save up some money and get that supercharger i was looking at. 1.8t are small little fours, but they are great w/tuning. my vr6 is sooo smooth, but it s a bitch to tune...i guess i'll have to race him in my g35

good job, i bet the 3rd gear in the 1.8t is incredible with that turbo upgrade. my friend has a VR6, i love how smooth it is as stated earlier. i LOVE the powerband in v6ers in general. i think i should race my friend starting out in second gear, J/K i dont really race.

Good one, you can really mod those VW 1.8's. If that was a new 330ci, they run a mid/high 14 if I'm not mistaken, so good kill. Be tight versus the G35 (I took a G35 coupe for a test drive, they are so beautiful).

yeah, it would b tight against the g35, but i'm still worried that he might beat me. i love 330ci's, but i have to say i love the M3 even more. Another friend of mine has a silver one that he just bought over the summer, and its so fast i don't even want to race it. it has the smg box, so he this launch control mode that can get the car in a claimed 4.5 0-60. the only issue is that if you use that feature more than 14 times it voids the warranty. makes since, but why would they put it in the car if its just gonna rip it apart?!
