funny wiper problem

I don't know if the mexicans had too much tequila then night before they assembled my '97 vw golf cl. But i dont' understand why my golf doesn't have continuous front wipers nor the very fast wipers. I mean the lever is there. I can click it so that i wipes once. It has the position for intermittent (the ones that it wipes every 3-4 seconds) .. but you can imagine how annoying it is to drive in hard rain....there is no other position in the lever... I've tried everything....Could it be a defect???

It sounds like the switch is broken. It should have two positions above the off position, low & high.

you should have three positions above the off position the first one is for intermittent then low and then high but i do agree with boschman that you may have a bad switch.
