Evolution MR?
Hey, does anyone know how much the MR edition is going to cost? I think my local dealer is feeding me a bunch of
. He said that he is going to have a MR at the dealership later this month and it will cost LESS than the EVO 8.....How true could that be? I thought that they were only going to introduce around 1000 MR's to the states. I didn't think it would be likely that we would get one in Southeast Idaho. What do you guys think?

Re: Evolution MR?
The dealer told you bullshit. The MR is going to be around $34,000. Its about 4 grand more than than the regular Evo, but worth every peny.

I was reading up on the MR this morning, and a website said that the MR is only 25lbs lighter and there isn't much of a difference that is worth the money difference. They said that the 6th speed is kind of worthless. Is that true? Why would they make a worthless gear?

Re: Evolution MR?
6th gear is overdrive, it's not a top speed gear. You can make the other gears closer though then.
The US release MR is/was as I said it was overhyped. It is not 300 pounds lighter than an EVO 8... it's 300 pounds lighter than it would be normally, makeing it marginally lighter than the 8. And it's no quicker than the 8 either, and if I remember the review correctly the US one does not have the active yaw control? |

take a look at the EVO MR figures at this link: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=281021&page=4&pp=15
scroll to the bottom and you'll find them there, ps the MT test of the EVO about a year ago, in their high speed issue, is the fastest i've seen, that car ran a 13.08 at like 105 or 106 and i tend to think it was either modified for the test or the surface of the track had good grip, EVO's accelerate much faster or slower depending on the track.

Re: Evolution MR?
I think the MR is worth it. It doesnt sound like much, but dont froget you will be driving a legendary car. One of the fastest Japanese sports cars stock ( next to the NSX-R in my opinion). I love that car.

IMHO, the MR is worth your time, if u arent into engine tuning, modding n stuff...cos there are plenty of Evoheads out there who swear by their 8GSR. but if u are into all that modding scene, then perhaps you might be happier with an 8GSR. that bein said...there are no cars that can touch the MR for anything less than $38 000 of your US dollars. |

Re: Evolution MR?
EVO 8 MR > THE REST. I drove one, litterly took my breath away. I would say the MR edition is worht it. its got the vortex generators, the 6th speed, and a few more HP. amazing is the only way to discribe it. Actually the EVO 9 will have all the features the MR does, so it will pretty much the same thing, except a few stylistic things.

How does the WRX Sti compared to the Evolution MR?

sad to say tho that my MR is a RS version (stripped out for track days) so in the name of weight-saving has no 6 speed; no vgs; no radio; no nothing 'cept for a mind blowing power-wight ratio (1hp pulling on bout 5.6kg...stock)...not many cars can boast such figures . yes, my MR is my project car to be tuned to the hilt; aim of 1 hp pulling on about 3kg). to do this i must be churning out at least 550hp to the crank. working on it... |

if u r pitting both on brute power in the straights, the STI will inch out over the MR. but if u are pitting both on handling prowess in the twisties, the MR will beat STI hands down. bottom line here is that Mitsu's MR with all its electric wizardry is meant to shine in the handling department while Subie's STI with all its mechanical brilliance is meant to shine in brute strength and power. both are arguably brilliant cars...just depends on which brand u like better. |

Re: Evolution MR?
sti 300 mr 276 hp there is not much diffence between the to also the mr weighs less than the sti with just basic mods to the mr you would beat an sti hands down in the power and in handling. All you would need is a cone air filter and a type-s bov and you would take a sti. depending where you live an sti here is about 40 g's the mr is about 36-38
