05 Corolla XRS

I just bought me a brand new 05 Corolla XRS, Black inside and out. It's a pretty sweet car, 11 miles on it. I've got a few questions, question 1, is this VVTI engine an interference engine. 2, How much would it cost to have tint all the way around. 3, How many miles is a break in, 1000? should i keep it under 3500 rps or so for the first 1000? Thanks everyone

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

congrats...XRS's are sweet

1. not sure

2. depends on where you go...if you go to a good place w/ waranty, probably around 250

3. 1000-1500. keep it under 3500 most of the time, but rev it up pretty good from time to time. forget the reasoning behind it, but it made sense.

if ya want, drop by vvti.net they could answer your questions better

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

I just got the XRS as well. I love it!

Can someone direct me to a wiring harness for the stereo (so I can put in my after-market kenwood without chopping the factory cables)? How about a dash-kit? (The latter being wishful thinking for now I bet).

Thanks for any help...

Wiring Harness

OK I've found out that as of yet there is no dash-kit but an older wiring harness still works. Best Buy installed my deck relatively easily and the wiring harness is only $14.99 - great news because then your factory wires don't need to be cut...

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

PM me with the Body number.
It's on the rad upper support 5 digits.
I'll tell you when it was made and all the assembly
info.

I work at the Cambridge plant where your car was born.

Outthere too

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

Well they tuned it better for more tq at lower rpm. 127tq at 4400.

the celica is around 6200rpm.

So it has a stronger mid range, opposed to the older version of the 2zz

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

I got a steal on my XRS because the dealership "broke contract" with me on a Solara I was going to purchase, but thats a whole nother thread. I own the first one in my city but the sticker on my car was 23,000 but it has all the options like the $1500 side curtain air bags.

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

i can get the xrs for a few hundred more than what it says in my info, the xrs is good, but it get mediacre gas mileage and doesnt' have enough useable torque for everyday drive, so i decided to get the scion tc, its 1/4 time is also faster, and it'll take a supercharger easier... im still KINDA deciding right now, the car is overpriced for what you get (its still a corolla)

Cambridge?! This car was born in Cambridge? I thought all Corollas were built in Fremont, CA.

Re: 05 Corolla XRS

In Cambridge we build 220,000 Corolla/Matrix per year. 85% of those go to the US. If your car was purchased in California, it was built in NUMMI(Freemont) . Just about anywhere else ,including Michigan, We built it.
Don't be upset though, We have one of the best quality plants in the Toyota family, let alone the industry.
I would gladly tell you about your car if you think it was built in Canada. Check on the Drivers door opening for the place of manufacture. If it says Canada , PM me the body number on the rad support upper (5 digits).
I'll look it up.
