Problem with 1999 Vette T-Top

The tinting on my '99 vette plastic T-top has worn away on the right side of the top. This tinting, which was done at the factory, is on the outside of the top, and appears to be similar to tinting film put on side windows, etc.

The dealer tells me that the top is not fixable, and must be replaced with a new (or used) top. One tinting shop that I took it to told me they can't put tinting film on a Corvette top because when the top gets hot, it will crack.

Has anyone had this kind of a problem and was able to resolve it without buying a new top?

Thanks for any info.

Re: Problem with 1999 Vette T-Top

It appears there are only two solutions to this problem: buy a new (or used) top, or have the top painted. I am going to take the second choice, which will cost about $250.
