Race Question???

My friend has a 1997 automatic Pontiac Sunfire 2 door 2.2L. I have a 1997 manual Chevy Cavalier 2 door 2.2L. I can kick his ass right now and he wants to beat me bad. He thinks intake, headers, exhaust will get him the win, what do you guys think. We raced once and he was by his self and I had me and 2 or 3 other people(can't remember).

you would probably still beat him... my friend has all that and he still dont even come close to me and all i have is a automatic 98 with intake and an exhaust

you'd be surprised....i have an auto matic and i can just finally keep up with a stock Z no mods...CAI,Full exhaust( headers,highflo cat tuner tube) Upper and lower engine mounts( gotta love the vibrations) NGX Plugs, NOLOGY hot wires, Unorthodox pully.. i have just crossed over the 17s 1/4 mile to running about 16.6 -16.9... fuckin eh.... i think next is going to be some Nitrous...screw all this slow crap... I love beating people with a sedan..... ;-)

16.6? keeping up with Zs? lol dont think so Zs run mid 15s stock.

lol yeah a high 16 second car doesnt keep up with any Z's. Keep dreaming.

hmm.... last time i checked a stock Z auto was runnin around the same time( which was awhile back)....I know they can be way much faster but this totally stock and nothing in them... atleast the one at the track i went to was..... Maybe his was a POS... i dunno... i know his reaction time sucked some major ass....cause i got out of the start before he did and about 2 car lenghts between us and at at the 1/4 mile point he was right next to me.... I don't want to make my self sound like a ricer which i apparently did above, which i apologize for... on the other note..stock Z do run higher times than this kid did, just had to do a little reaserch and see what the numbers were and the ones i saw were pulling from 16.1 down to a 15.5...I have room for improvement...and with time i know i can get down that low....

you wont get down that low without a turbo/supercharger/NO2, just not gonna happen. I dont think ive ever seen a NA 2.2L run in the 15's. With all the money you have put into your car, a $1500 dollar turbo would have gotten you into the 15's instantly. . .

hehe... yea... turbos give me a big smile on my face... i think maybe a in another yr or 2 down the road.... i need some body work... the little 2.2 has enough go for now... just need a nice lookin kit and some other odds and ends...

you think your car has go, untill you realize. I thought my car had go when i was a 16.1 1/4 mile, now that im a 14.7 i dont think i could ever go that slow again. Just a warning, Boost is extremly addictive!
