Distributor rotor

I just tried to change the rotor on my 92 lude, and it seems the screw holding it in is stripped to all hell. I tried to get it out for like an hour and the son of a bitch wouldn't come out. Any suggestions on how to get it out?

Re: Distributor rotor

they do make this stuff called Liquid Wrench. My dad has it and it seems to have worked everytime we've needed. Try looking into something along those lines.

Re: Distributor rotor

is it a hex head bolt or phillips head screw. i assume the head is rounded and a socket or screwdriver will not hold. the threads are siezed and need some help. use some penetrate as suggested, over night is good. tap on the center of the bolt with a punch and hammer to loosen the threads. an "impact hammer driver" is made for stuck screws and bolts. a chisel and hammer may be needed if the head gets mangled to bad for a tool to fit, and the last recourse is to drill and use an "easy out". patience is the key, a professoinal may be needed, for the bolt or the patience?

Re: Distributor rotor

It's a philips head screw, and i'm pretty sure the threads are fine.......just the head of the screw is stripped out and a screwdriver won't get it out.

Craftsman makes a Bit set that digs into stripped screws. I would look into getting that.
