turbo Ka vs. 5.0

i was coming home from school and as i was on the way to the highway, i see this red mustang 5.0 notch back. this i know this guy from my class. from what i've heard from my class mates is that his mustang is pretty hooked up. from the outside he has skinnys up front and he has really wide tires in the back.

well he was right behind me on the on ramp and i floor it in 2nd expecting him to floor it with me, and he did floor it at the exact same time. well we both were dead even with him being at my rear quarter panel ( becuase he was at my rear quarter panel when we started ) and i shift to third ( my strongest gear ) and i could no pull away from this guy. so by 90 i had to let off because there was a car in my lane. i felt bad becasue i couldn't pull away from a 5.0 on the highway which is my home turf.

so the next day i asked a few other classmates who knows the guy, and i asked them whats in his car. they said it was secret because he races that car daily, but when i asked if he was a auto, they said he has a tremec 6 speed swaped in from a cobra. i'm like damn so i guess i don't feel so bad for not pulling away from him on the highway cause he probrably got heads, and a new intake manifold on it as well, plus hes the lightlest 5.0 being a notchback and all.

i know its kinda weird how there are alot of 5.0 races goin on, i guess its the time of the season or something.

Re: turbo Ka vs. 5.0

well nice try, you cant demolish them all. I beat a 5.0 the other day at the track, he only ran a 15.5 though.

Re: turbo Ka vs. 5.0

Sounds cool enough. Those very close/dead even races are always the most fun IMO.

Re: turbo Ka vs. 5.0

Cool, i tried to guess based on your power #'s. Anyway if he's as fast as you then i'd say he's got bolt-ons'. Say intake, exhaust, maybe a cam. With big tires in the back and it being a notch that's probably all he's got done. But then again if it's a all a big secret about what he has then maybe he does have heads. Seems to me with h/i/e he'd be mid low 13's so he's only got little stuff it sounds like.

my friend in a mid 90s GT raced a 5.0 and they were pretty even, the 5.0 would always get just a little ahead when they'd gun it from a roll but my buddy would catch up in just a second and they'd stay neck and neck..

Would that even be possible though?? I mean I don't have any basis for saying its not other then the 4.6L in the Cobra is totally different from the 5.0 in the GT, which would make me think the belhousing bolts would be alot different.

well i do go to a automotive engineering school. there is one senior who put a 5.0 in a mazda 929. i was walking to class and i see this boxy ass 929 with a 5.0 sounding exhuast. and from askin my professor that guy did that swap for a senior project seminar project.

back to topic, from what i've heard from his friends, you you gotta change the bell housing and make a custom drive shaft to put it on a 5.0, they actually starting to make conversion kits for it from what they say.

Re: turbo Ka vs. 5.0

I assumed there would be alot of modifications.

If the guy has went to that much trouble, then you're probably correct when you figure on him having alot more engine mods. And then again, he may have spent all of his money on the tranny swap, lol.

Re: turbo Ka vs. 5.0

Oh well that's probably the only other "major" thing he has then. It seems like every 5.oh mustang that is relatively fast has the bottle, lol

Yeah, I'd say if he woudl have sprayed on ya then he woudl have pretty much run off and left ya, lol. I am not a fan of nitrous, but it surely is fun to see someone spray, lol. Its like their car gets kicked in the ass by a Mac truck, lol.
