XXX help asap por favor
Hey im wondering why turbo exhausts and so much quieter than non turbo ones, and whats the loudest kind of exhaust i can buy for my 97 gsx? I already just a muffler and test pipe but am selling both to a friend so i decided it was time to get full exhaust, or at least catback, anyways your advice on the loudest exhaust for me is appreciated. thanks.

Re: XXX help asap por favor
cause the turbo tones down the exhaust... a turbo car will always be a lower tone and quieter than a n/a car!
EDIT: i shouldnt say always, but in normal applications this is true Last edited by EclipseRST; 10-01-2004 at 11:57 PM. |

Re: XXX help asap por favor
The loudest would be a 3" turbo-back with absolutely no restrictions or neck-downs (except for the muffler, which should be 3" all the way through as well). That's what I'm currently running, and I LOVE the way it sounds! It's extremely deep, and quite a few people at school were convinced it was a 6cylinder until I popped the hood for them
, simply because it's very deep and idle, and at WOT in the upper RPM's it actually seems to get a bit quieter, unlike n/a cars. Any exhaust system will sound basically the same; the only thing that differs is how loud it will be.

Re: XXX help asap por favor
Loudest exhaust=3" DP with a cutout welded in before the cat and catback. Put an electric butterfly switch on from www.dmhperformance.com or www.qtec.com, and with the flip of a button you go from quiet, full exhaust with resonators and cat to running straight out your downpipe.
When I get my 2.5" DP I will be running this setup (perhaps with manual cutout with a cap instead of an actuator), although I will have 2.5" pressbent from the downpipe back. Nonetheless, I don't think I'll want even the restriction of the few press bends I have. Like Jake said, the loudest exhaust possible is running with no DP or straight out your DP.
