Mini Cooper S had a bad Nissan day...

On the way home, about an hour ago, I happen to encounter a modded 350Z, and a Mini Cooper S playing...or more like the 350Z was playing with the Mini.

I was behind three cars, but I saw the Mini take-off fast from the head of the light, with the 350 right behind him. The 350 had space to go around the Mini, but he didn't. He just stuck to the back of the Mini, basically saying "you can mash that gas all you want, son, you ain't walking away"...

Anyhow, I worked my way around the cars in front of me, and got behind the 350, who was behind the Mini.

Too bad the traffic got REALLY bad at that point. We were basically crawling.

The 350Z driver was in one word - an asshole. He kept holding back, so he can take-off fast, and loom in the back of the Mini like a big bully. He'd make his car jump, and he was revving like an idiot. Well, at least he had something to back-up his A-holeness. I just hope he'd someday try that against a 2003+ Cobra, a C5 or a C6, or a 240ZDET().

Anyhow, he follows the traffic, merging with the left-lane, and I decide to stay behind the Mini (I'm not THAT ambitious), knowing he'd be more my size.

With luck, the traffic for those of us going straight (350 went left) thinned-out, and I found myself behind the Mini, with him ahead at the light.

I had a feeling he was going to take out his frustrations with the 350 on the wide-open stretch in front of him, so I got ready.

He takes-off fast, but not launching, and with me ready, I pull next to him easily. He sees what's going on, and I hear his S/C whine, as he steps on it.

I pull on him by about 4 cars. I'm sure he just didn't expect the faded red car next to him to be that fast. Not really a race, but it got his attention.

Then the light ahead turns red, with each of us having a lane...

Sitting there at the light, I can hear his RPMs go up mildy, accompanied by the soft whir of his miniscule supercharger - he's gonna launch this time.

I figured "screw it". My clutch is dying, but damn, I don't get this chance a lot, and I plan to get me a new clutch soon - at least before November .

So we both launch. Both spin a bit - and lo, and behold, I'm pulling! I had him by one car by my speed-shift to first, and after second, he was two cars behind. As I was pulling on him, I looked in my rear-view, and dude had this "WTF!!" look on his face (Red will see this a lot). I love it.

Anyhow, he pulls in behind me at the next turn, going into my neighborhood. I tried to not be too excited about it, but seeing him look at me through my side-view, with this half-amused, half-shocked look on his face, I couldn't help but grin...

I kinda felt bad for him, after having to be embarrased by an A-hole 350Z driver, but hey, that's life - you bought it, you live with it.

...I love sleepers.

I know the neighborhood where that 350Z turned-in to. It's just down the road from my house.

350-hunting in November?

Re: Mini Cooper S had a bad Nissan day...

i've had a couple run-in's with those mini coopers. I've found out one interesting fact about the owners of those and the owners of PT cruisers. They all think they are quick as hell! even the turbo ones aren't that quick. but everyone thinks, 'oh its turbo that MUST mean it fast'. heh

I'm a fairly decent driver man, and I know my car real well, but I ain't THAT good, lol.

Oh, and I had a 5.0 encounter too, but not on par with the 5.0 you raced...not even close.

That's weird, most Z drivers are pretty conservative. There's a black one around here, and everytime we pull even with him he wants nothing to do with it. Good kill. But poor, poor mini.

Of course, in my area, most the Z owners are in their 50's and have automatics. Hey that's cool Mason RsX, I see you're in Halifax. I'm in Saint John.

Hehehe, I love that. He spent a load of cash on the Mini then another load to supercharge it and you come along in your Sentra with faded paint and blow off his doors.

Nice kill!

Ah, the beauty of sleepers.

The Mini S already comes supercharged. So it might have been stock.

Good kill carrnuttt, i can't stand those new Minis since they became such a fad.

Oh, that's right, I forgot about that.

I just watched Tuner Transformation on Speed and they took a Mini to the dealer to have the factory supercharger installed. Then again that wasn't an S, so I guess that's what confused me.
