Angry 2001 Alero

I bought this car used with only 20,000 miles on it....I guess I was naive. I thought the extended warranty covered the electrical system - Boy was I surprised to find out it didn't. I am having trouble with the hazard lights and the turn signals. They work when they want, and seem to stop without reason. I have been in contact with GM, and they deny that their has been any service bulletins or recalls on this, but I know there must be.....There are too many owners of this vehicle complaining about the same thing....Now the buttons on the CD player don't respond. It plays, but anything electrical on it, such as eject, jumping stations on the radio, or changing tracks doesn't respond....What could it be, and what can I do about it? The original warranty expired several months ago.

the turn signal problem sounds like the hazard switch is bad, the turn signals are also routed via that switch. I had the same thing happen to me two years ago i got the switch fixed for 50 bucks with the part and then it was recalled. i got my money back from gm so see what they say about that switch. dunno about the radio tho.

Re: 2001 Alero

The hazard switch is covered under a recall, don't let your dealer tell you otherwise. The radio may have a loose connection inside, where the faceplate hooks into the body of the radio.
