Transmission problem
I have a 97 z28 with a 6 speed.
My problem seems to occur at lower rpms when im going from 2nd to 3rd. As soon as I release the clutch, it will pop out of gear and go into neutral almost 60% of the time. The way I counter this is by going to about 2500-3000 rpms in 2nd before shifting to 3rd. Or I'll hold the stick in third and not let it pop out. I dont know much about transmissions but i believe it may be the synchros. Has anybody replaced their synchros before? And if so do you go in from the center console?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

check your fluid level that can cause your problem, but most likely it's something more serious. to change the synchro's i believe you have to pull the tranny and i think theres a side panel you pull off. could be wrong tho, never torn into a 6spd

Re: Transmission problem
ive heard of this before with these trannies in camaros, im not sure why they did this, but the tranny guy at my dealership was used to it, so it should be a common problem that a tranny tech at a GM dealership should already know about.
