Tires

What do you guys recommend, i'm looking for something performance oriented that will last decently long and aren't rediculous in price, So far i'm thinking of Perilli P7000's. I've found them for $65 in 195/60/14, if anyone knows a better price let me know.

Also JustinP10:
How are your Azenias (sp) holding up, would you recommend them for daily driving and hows the wear. I can get those for $44 in 195/60/14, but if they wear to fast i can't afford to keep wrapping my rims.

Thanks all, Blue93G20

God 14inch rubber is cheap. The RE92's on my G20 cost $130 and those are stock tires. I have been thinking about getting some Potenza S0-3s on my stock wheels but they cost so damn much...

The Azenis are holding up ok. I don't know where they are at for wear, as I've only had them a little while. They will wear pretty fast though, they are very soft. I've actually swapped my 16" wheels back on as i'm trying to use up the last of those tires, and save my Azenis for the track event at the Convention. I havn't really run on the Azenis enough to know how long they'll last, but i'd guess in the range of 10-20k miles? I think it also depends how rough you are on tires. My Nitto 555zr's have lasted over 30K miles... that's a long way for those tires, that includes a track event at Buttonwillow too. Just like in economics, it's depends

Hmmm, i was thinking about buying 2 stock rims and putting azenaz on them just for the strip. Perhaps i'll do that and go with the Perillis

Naw, I wouldn't.... if you are going to a dedicated race tire, just get a pair of slicks, or the Nitto 555r's. Don't get a set of street tires for that.

The only reason why i'd buy azenas for the track is because i can get those for $44 a piece while nittos are $88. I can rag the shit out of them and not care. Plus if you heat them up enough i hear they are comparible to drag radials.

Azenis? I think their sidewalls are too stiff to be slicks. They are more of a road racing tire, than a drag racing tire, but they are pretty cheap.

Not really sure, but i'm sure you'd know a little better then me since you have them. My buddy was talking to a guy that road races and he said the azenis were the best mod he did to lower his lap time, says there stick as hell.

Oh yeah, on road racing they'd make a HUGE difference over street tires. But I'm not sure about drag racing, someone else may want to comment here, but i thought real stiff sidewalls didn't help with launching when drag racing. I thought you'd want a softer sidewall, so the tire can "flex" to grip the track better. Where in road racing a stiff sidewall would prevent the tire from rolling over, and keep the sticky part of the tire on the track around the corners. Maybe I'm off though?

I think that he was trying to convey that stiff sidewalls would not be as good as soft side walls for drag racing, but at the same time trying to convey then the Azenis are better than street tires for drag racing.

yes, but still not as good as say the Nitto 555r's or dedicated drag slicks (which can be found suprisingly cheap). I'm just thinking, if you're going to spend the money for another set of drag racing wheels, might as well do it right and use something that'll help lower your times.
