Re: Don't tell the public, but things are getting worse in Iraq.

"I have come to the conclusion that we cannot win here for a number of reasons. Ideology and idealism will never trump history and reality," wrote Lorentz, who gives four key reasons for the likely failure: a refusal to deal with reality, not understanding what motivates the enemy, an overabundance of guerrilla fighters, and the enemy's shorter line of supplies and communication.

This is fundamentally similar to what my friend in Army Intelligence said when he got back a couple of months ago...and things seem only to be escalating. I have no doubt the liberal media tends to focus mainly on the spectacular, the controversial, the devastating, and not so much on the uplifting aspects of our reconstruction effort- but I tend to believe (unfortunately) that the former predominate...

Re: Don't tell the public, but things are getting worse in Iraq.

on september 11th,2001, all the schools in America were ready for children. The hospitals worked, the electricity was on, there was peace in 99.9% of the country.

Thats not how most Americans remember the day though.

The 'reconstruction 'effort aint worth a damn if you cant make peace. There's more to building a civilised society than replacing stuff that you bombed with something better.

Substitute 'Iraq' for 'America'.

Flatrater, if you don't get that then you really have no place in the politics section.

Re: Don't tell the public, but things are getting worse in Iraq.

Things are getting worse in Iraq???

Tell me exactly when were they better?

I'm guessing before Bush bombed the shit out of the country.

EDIT: BTW I know it's an old subject but did ayone hear about those pesky WMD's??? You remember those don't you??? If I remember correctly they were the whole reason Bush went into Iraq.

Interesting article, military ppl do have some restricted rights when it comes to freedom of speech but they can voice their opinion. http://www.optruth.com clearly states the rights of our troops under UFCMJ

Things were better when Saddam was gassing and killing his own people.

BTW no one mentioned on how Kerry mentioned WMD during his debate. He stated the WMD where leaving the Iraq boders daily.
