92 grand am with rough idle

Hey everyone.... been reading your posts and thought I would say that I think this forum is great and incredibly helpful. Here is my question
I have a 92 Grand Am with a rough idle. I took it to the shop and they said my vacuum block was clogged and needed replaced along with a few of the hoses. I was quoted a price of 500 for it, and I am not willing to pay that much for this car after all the work that I have done on it in the last few years. I have been trying to find the part online and have been unable to find a place that carries it. Other than that, I am wondering where I will need to put it in, and how much it will cost me.
Thanks for your time.

Re: 92 grand am with rough idle

Go to your local wrecking yard and look for one. You can try gmpartsdirect.com as they may be able to help you too. The vacuum lines should be relatively inexpensive to replace as these can be purchased at any autoparts store. You may also want to clean the Idle air control motor. (IAC) This will help the idle somewhat although if you have bad vacuum lines things will improve greatly once they are replaced.

What vacuum block are they talking about? You may have a clogged EGR passage also, which will cause a rough idle.
