How do i take the rear rotor off?
First of all, thanx to ales and barrlucas for posting messages in regards to seanz brake replacement problem. From that i was able to turn and push the piston back in. Thanx! :-)
While rotating my tires today I fount out that my rear brake pads are worn out. I took the calipers off and everything, but I wasn't able to take the rotors off for turning. Does anyone know how do i take the rear rotors off? Please advise! Thanks!! |

Is there a hub that needs to be removed? If you've taken the caliper off it seems as though the rotor should just slide off...but it sounds like maybe a hub-cap.

There should be two threaded holes in the rotor, next to the lugs. ( I think they are there on the rear rotors) Assuming that you have everything else removed all you will have to do is find bolts to fit in these holes and tighten them down. They will push the rotor right off.

I ended up just putting in new pads w/o turning the rotors (cuz i wasn't able to get them off). Yes, I did see 2 little holes next to the lugs. I messed around with it, but I didn't know what to do with them. Still, thanks for replying and letting me know. I believe next time I shall know :-)
cheers! p. |

Hit the side of the hub with a hammer and rotate it while you hit it. Also hit the face of the hub too. Chances are it is probably rusted on around that round seal. Use sand paper and a wire brush to get all the excess rust off after you get the rotor off.
Good Luck A little late but I'am new to the forum Joe |

the huh ur talking about is at the center or the rotor, right? i did try hammering it, but it didn't move. maybe i didn't use enough force; i was afraid that i might break it.
so the key to taking to rotors off is to take the hub off or the two little holes next to the lugs that buracus was talking about? i'm confused. nice to see my fellow maryland'ers helping me out. i grew up in rockville, md. which part of md. r u from? p. |

I live in Hughesville.
Yes apparently you didn't put enough of your butt into it ![]() If you whack it on the front side but be careful not to hit your lug nut studs you will be fine. Also take a little WD-40 and squirt it around the hub seal to help break it loose. Good luck Joe
