Angry 2004 530i manual transmission, torque problem

It seems as if the new 2004 530i manual transmission variant has the following issue.

At between 4500 - 5000 rpm it experiences a loss of torque. In other words it is as if someone is pumping the breaks as you accelerate thru that rpm range.

BMW is saying that this is a known problem with this model and they do not have an ETA for a fix.

Has anyone heard of or experienced this issue before ?

Regards

Gary
