can you find trouble codes like you can with chrystler?

Can you find trouble codes with GMC like you can with chrysler prouducts? You know how chrysler you can cycle the key on, off, on, off, on and it'll give you codes. Is there something like that or do you have to use the OBD2 thing?

Re: can you find trouble codes like you can with chrystler?

1995 and up require the OBD-II to read the codes as far as I know.

AutoZone will read the codes for you for free. I've used them on more than one occasion and car.

Find the ALDL connector under the dash and connect the two center most contacts and turn the ignition to on and count the flashes on the check engine light. This is the procedure for OBD1 general motors, might be the same for OBD2.
