When breaks are cold they SHRIEK. Not the little squel, its a LOUD wake up the neighbors in the morning noise. It's really annoying, it started after SEARS installed metalic break pads. I am aware a little noise is normal for the for 3000 miles, but i have 4300 miles on these breaks and this is ridiculous. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Break SHRIEK. Help Please
Nick,
The only way I was able to cure both my Camry's (94 and 98) of brake noises was to switch to full ceramic pads. I previously used Raybestos semi-metalic pads on one and their semi-ceramic pads (a mix of ceramic and semi-metalic material) on the other. Both times the only cure for me was switching to their brand of full ceramic pads. Another person who helps a lot of people on this forum is a firm believer of using only Toyota factory pads to be sure of no squeaking. I do the work myself, but perhaps if you go talk to Sears and really complain they will do something for you. Mike |

Re: Break SHRIEK. Help Please
Semi-Metallic brake pads had always made noise on our Camry...everything changed after I purchased the first set of ceramics...
