noisy lifter... a cure?

hi,

anybody got a remedy for a noisy lifter? i got one thats ticking when the car is warm.. when cold it doesn't do it at all.

what would be the RIGHT stuff to put in?

and btw, a friend of mine told me that automatic transmission oil can be added to the fuel and SEEMS to help the fuel injectors and get out the dirty valves and deposit on them... is this true ?

remove the valve cover, and use a combination of WD-40, and brake cleaner(not brake fluid, mind you). this ought to loosen it. run oil through it, and change your oil!

isin't there a stuff for that ? like an oil additive or something? i think it's the rear valve cover i have to remove ..anyway whould i spray?

Change you oil go to 10W40.. if it goes away , presto. if your motor runs on th hot side, the oil thins out and you get lifter knock. These motors all have some knock from there famous cam bearings. mine has a light lifter tick.. i run sythetic.. you should be fine.

well in winter it's gonna be too thick.. im gonna use something like castrol 5-30 or some good oil...

btw, i changed my SC oil... when i opened up the oil plug it spluttered out a bit.. it was still hot at the time too so.. oh and when i installed my cone filter i noticed a strange deposit in the intake rubber boot.. it smells like supercharger oil..but it wasn't fresh...it was all sticky and all..it must have leaked by the SC seal or something.. from seeing that, and the fact that there was pressure in the sc when i opened up the oil plug and somee of the oil got out, tells me that it must had too much oil in it..some how... and the old oil wasbrown.. verrrrry dark brown...compared to the crystal clear NEW oil..i hope this is gonna be ok

5-30 is to thin... in the winter the oil will be cooled and you won't have this problem.. till winter comes use 10-40 minumim requirments is 10-30.. where is your oil pressure at idle when warm? and where is it when driving.

hmm it is high when driving normally.. at idle it seems ok...but since i removed the restrictor screen @ the TPS it idles rougher and lower a bit and the needles ocillates a bit..

but nothing aabnormal.. it not even close of the low range.

thats normal when you get rid of the screen... Some people can't run without it for some reason but if your car runs with ok then your ok as i am .. again 5-30 is to thin, 10w30 is best and recommended.

well the trouble is that here ( in quebec) we get -40 degrees in winter.. not too often but we do get COLD climat, enough to have a block heater on the car.. thats a must...not that wouldn't start witout it but it "easier" for the engine...sooooo 10-30 is kinda hard at -20 if you know what i mean... but i would change my oil for 5-30 only in the colder times on the season.. like late autumn and early spring i would get back to 10-40 for sure

heh, I run 10-30 yearround, havoline nonsynthetic, never ever had a problem, lucky me!
