The next rx7?

Ok from what I've heard there might be a new xr7 coming out in 06 or 07. So far I've heard that there might be a vert modle and possibly a mazdaspeed supercharged edition. Has anyone else heard anything about the new 7 or any other options that might be available?

Re: The next rx7?

Sry Soyo I'm still a newbie here I was just wondering if anyone had heard for sure if mazda is planning on putting the new 7 in to production and if they plan on having a Mazdaspeed supercharged version on the platform. As I have looked and planned on buying a rx8 but I'm not really pleased with the looks of it but I'm wanting a new rotary and if Mazda is bringing out another 7 then I may wait on it. I have seen several concept drawings but I've heard even less about the engine platform they plan on using.

Re: The next rx7?

I have a feeling that whatever this car looks like or has in it that it will cost around 30k+... I think the rx-8 is gonna be the low end sports car and if there is a new rx-7 it will be made with 350hp or so and maybe be geared twords the power range of vettes and porches...

thats what I think it should be atleast... who knows what it will be

Re: The next rx7?

Price isnt really one of my biggest worrys with the new 7s but if it is capable of compeating with the newer vettes and porches I'd pay in the mid to low 40k range. The price isnt what I dont like about the rx8 its just the looks, for the price the car should have a better factory paint job better looking interior and those two extra doors kinda get on my nerves. I'm sure I'll get flamed for that remark but I love the first three gen body styles much better.

Re: The next rx7?

but i guess you missed the idea of the rx8, it isnt the next rx7 and it should not be expected that it wold be. the rx8 was a design departure from the traditional sportscar. as in it is not supposed to look or drive like a rx7 but carry similar traits (engine, weight diistribution).

I dissagre on the paint and interior, i believe that the paint jobs are fine (basically the same color options as the fd), and the interionr is original.

Re: The next rx7?

Its not the color but the quality of the colors, I looked at five different rx8s and they all seemed to lack the depth of a well preped car but I'm finding alot of newer cars with this issue. I do understand that it wasnt suppose to take the place of the rx7 and in no way am I saying it's a bad car but it just doesnt fit my needs or wants. I went looking at the rx8 with high expectaions but I was let down a little with some of the lines of the car and I've noticed that it seems to me atleast that other cars such as the c6 vette seem to be taking cues from the rx8 like very similiar front ends and the rear seems to me that is some what like the 8 but that isnt realy a bad thing since I havent liked any newer vette body styles. Any how I'm still debating on buying a rx8 or just laying off to see what the next few years have to offer in performance upgrades and styling.

Re: The next rx7?

From what I heard from a few people in the industry that if the RX8's sales continue to be high they will prob. release the new Rx7. Also in my openion they will have to if they want to keep up with toyota who is threatening to remake the supra and nissan who is planning on selling the next skyline in America. And my guess is if its turbo or supercharged its easily going to be in the $40's.
